(the Creator of the One Stroke Painting Technique)
My name is Barb Fortier and I live in Surrey, B.C. CANADA (approximately 1/2 hour from Vancouver). I have been a decorative painter for many years. In 2000 I was introduced to Donna Dewberry; the originator of the One Stroke Painting technique. I tried it and I was hooked! Soon after I attended a seminar hosted by Donna and became a Certified Instructor. After my certification I returned home with such vigor. I wanted to share my experience with everyone so I started teaching the One Stroke technique. I am very happy with the ability to share my love of painting with so many others.
I have a very supportive husband (Lawrence) that has joined me on my One Stroke Painting journey. In 2002 we created a business called "Beyond Borders". The name signifies that One Stroke Painting lets you go beyond borders; you can paint on any surface from watches to walls. In 2002 we became the Canadian Distributor for One Stroke painting products.
In 2003 we had the pleasure of hosting the first "Western Canadian Teachers Certification" with Donna and her husband Marc. There were 100 students attending; 50 of who were my students. They are now Certified Instructors and some have moved up the ranks and have become Elite Instructors. I have a student (Carol, from Thunder Bay, Ontario) that has moved up the ranks and has just recently become a Certifying Elite Director. I am so proud of all my Instructors accomplishments.
In 2004 I became the first Canadian Certifying Elite Instructor which meant I had the opportunity to organize and teach the One Stroke Certifications in Canada.
In February of 2005 (along with seven other members of the One Stroke Certifying Team) I attended a training seminar in Florida. It was announced that Dewberry Designs had added another level to the One Stroke Program. I am proud to represent Donna Dewberry and Dewberry Designs as their Canadian Certifying Elite Director. I have the pleasure of teaching and upgrading the Certified Instructors all across Canada.
I am very thankful and feel blessed to have the opportunity to share my love of painting with so many others and I am very grateful to Donna Dewberry and her husband Marc to have given me this wonderful opportunity.
